Suspension

Suspension

What are the suspensions used for in my car ?

Alignment of a car or truck involves the adjustment of the vehicle’s suspension, not the tires and the wheels. Very often a worn suspension part is the cause of an alignment problem. Worn shocks, struts and springs can lower a vehicle’s ride hight, altering its geometry and creating misalignment. Weak suspension can also contribute to uneven or “cupped” tire wear.

Other common problems are worn ball joints or faulty tie rod ends. They may cause irregular tire wear and erratic handling. In some cases major frame repairs may have to be performed or the subframe may have to be shifted.
